SKI INSURANCE - Taking to the ski slopes is becoming more popular by the year. With the advent of cheap flights, many people are discovering that, not only is it more convenient to arrange their own holidays, it can save them money too. A simple shop around on the Internet can find many cheap bargains for flights, ferries and hotel or other accommodation.
It is true, a package tour is easy because you leave it all up to the ski travel company - ski insurance included. But you can save money here too. Even if you don't go down the DIY route, even if you choose a package holiday, you can save money and in many cases get a better insurance cover by going directly to the experts.
Purchasing ski insurance from a travel company or your bank can cost you up to 75% more than if you purchase cover direct from a travel insurance broker on line.
But why do you need ski insurance? However enjoyable skiing and other snow sports such as snowboarding is, they are hazardous. Take a straw poll of your friends and colleagues who have been skiing and there is a very good chance that at least one of them have suffered from a broken bone on the slopes.
Because of this additional risk ski insurance is more expensive than the normal travel insurance policy you would take, say, for a beach holiday, but when you compare it to the cost of medical expenses abroad. An air ambulance to take you from the slopes to hospital may run into thousands of pounds, and that's before the cost of the treatment itself.
Much of the cost of your ski insurance can be deferred if you are a regular traveller by purchasing an annual multi trip policy. Travel Insurance Direct offer a great range of such yearly insurance cover packages and the cost of adding winter sports onto them can be as low as a few single figure pounds. You are able to choose between European or world wide, and trip durations of 24, 31, 45 or 60 days per trip.
Another benefit of the annual cover with ski insurance will be of great interest to parents of children at school. Youngsters under the age of 18, who are insured free of charge anyway, are now insured even if they travel without their parents. This is marvellous news when they go on a school trip or travel on holiday with grandparents.
