Type of Insurance: The Insurance provides cover for a range of travel insurance
benefits for a range of different policies.


SIGNIFICANT FEATURES

  • Payment for loss of deposits for travel and accommodation due
    to cancellation, or for cutting your holiday short.

  • Payment for irrecoverable sums if the scheduled airline becomes insolvent
    before or after departure.

  • Payment for the cost of emergency repatriation
    to the U.K (or Eire.)

  • Payment for the cost of emergency medical, surgical,
    hospital or dental treatment.

  • Payment of transporting your remains to the
    U.K or Eire following your death.

  • Payment of a lump sum following an accident
    resulting in death, loss of limbs, loss of sight or permanent total disablement.

  • Payment of reasonable additional costs for travel and accommodation if
    you miss your departure.

  • Personal liability costs in the event you accidentally
    injure a third party and/or accidental damage their property.

  • Legal costs
    incurred by you in pursuit of legal proceedings against third parties.

  • Compensation
    for lost, damaged or stolen baggage. (not effected in Discovery Light policies)

  • Compensation for loss of personal monies. (not effected in Discovery Light
    policies)

Winter Sports

The following cover is also applicable when the appropriate / additional premium
has been paid for the issue of single-trip winter sports cover or added to
an annual multi-trip policy.

  • Medical expenses relating to accidental injury through winter
    sports activities covered under the policy.

  • Compensation for loss or damage to owned or hired ski equipment.

  • Costs for necessary hire of ski equipment due to loss or breakage
    of your ski equipment.

  • Value of any unused ski pack (ski pass,
    ski hire or tuition fee) due to sickness, accident, loss or theft of ski
    equipment.

  • Compensation for piste closure due to lack of snow or adverse
    weather conditions.

  • Additional travel and accommodation expenses due to
    travel delay caused by avalanche closure.

Business Cover

The following cover is also applicable when the appropriate additional premium
has been paid for the issue of a Business Annual Multi-trip policy.

  • Compensation for the value of lost, stolen or damaged computer
    equipment, communication devices and other business related equipment carried
    by you.

  • Emergency courier of essential business baggage as a result of loss,
    theft or damage.

  • The cost of business equipment hire following loss
    or breakage, or misdirection / delay during transit.

  • The loss of cash
    or travellers cheques which is the property of you or your employer.

  • The
    cost for necessary employee replacement due to bodily injury or illness.

Golf Cover

The following cover is also applicable when the additional premium has been
paid.

  • Compensation for lost, stolen or damaged golf equipment.

  • Cost of necessary
    hire of golf equipment following misdirection or delay in transit.

  • Cost
    of pre-paid green fees due to closure of green due to adverse weather.

SIGNIFICANT EXCLUSIONS


Medical conditions:

If at the time of taking out the insurance or booking a trip you or any person
upon whose health your travel plans depend:

  • is on a hospital waiting list.

  • is pregnant, where on single trip policies birth is expected within
    14 weeks of the expiry of the policy, or where on multi trip polices birth
    is expected within 14 weeks of the return date of the trip.

  • is travelling
    against the advice of a medical practitioner, or for the purpose of receiving
    medical treatment.

  • has received a terminal prognosis.



    … this insurance will exclude any claims arising directly or indirectly
    as a result of that condition.

The policy excludes* claims relating to any of the following medical conditions
where these have been previously suffered, diagnosed or treated for:


  • A malignant disease.

  • A lung or heart-related condition. (other than well controlled asthma)

  • Hypertension.

  • Anxiety, depression, or a psychiatric disorder.

  • Medical conditions which
    in the last 12 months have required hospital inpatient treatment, referral
    to a specialist or requires ongoing treatment.

The policy excludes claims relating to any medical condition which has been
suffered within the last 12 months and has required either: On-going medical
treatment; referral to a specialist; or hospital inpatient treatment.

SIGNIFICANT EXCLUSIONS (continued)

Personal Effects and Baggage:


  • Compensation for loss or damage to personal effects, baggage
    and valuables are subject to maximum limits, and single item limit.

  • There is no cover for property left unattended in a place to which
    the general public has access.

Personal Money


  • Compensation for loss or theft to personal money is subject to
    maximum limits.

  • No cover for loss or theft of personal money left in checked-in luggage
    or an unattended motor vehicle.

Sports and Hazardous Activities

We have included a comprehensive range of activities which are covered on a
casual or incidental basis as standard, and an additional list of activities
which are covered on a non-incidental or regular basis with reduced cover
and subject to increased medical excess. Read these carefully as we exclude
cover for activities not listed. (Page 5)Personal Liability

There is no cover for Personal Liability arising directly or indirectly associated
with use of any vehicle, automobile, aircraft, watercraft, or any mechanically
propelled conveyance.

SIGNIFICANT LIMITATIONS

  • The Assistance Services must be contacted as soon as possible
    in the event of you being admitted to hospital, curtailing for medical reasons,
    you dying or incurring medical expenses,

  • You must exercise reasonable care to prevent illness, injury or loss
    or damage to your property, as if uninsured.

  • Claims may be subject to an excess. This is the amount you have to
    pay.

  • Any loss of baggage or personal money must be reported to the police
    within 24 hours and a police report obtained.

  • To be eligible for this policy, you must have lived in the U.K /
    Eire for the previous six months.

DURATION OF COVER


Single Trips: Section A1 - Cancellation Cover is effective from the time and
date of issue of the insurance policy and ends at the start of the insured
trip. For all other sections, cover starts when you leave your home or business
(whichever is later) to start the trip and ends whichever occurs first of the
following: (a) The expiry date of the insurance; (b) Your return home at the
end of the trip; (c) Your return home prior to the end of the planned trip.
(On trips of more than 4 months duration, one return home is permitted during




Annual Multi-Trips: Section A1 – Cancellation Cover for each trip is
effective either from the commencement date of the insurance or the time and
date at which each trip is booked (whichever is later) and ends at the start
of the insured trip. For all other sections, cover starts when you leave your
home or business (whichever is later) to start each trip and ends whichever
occurs first of the following: (a) The expiry date of the insurance; (b) Your
return home at the end of the trip; (c) Your return home prior to the end of
the planned trip; (d) Your period of travel exceeds the specified trip duration.



CANCELLATION RIGHTS



We hope you are happy with the cover this policy provides however you have
the right to cancel it within 14 days of issue provided that a claim does not
exist, and travel has not commenced.
